If You Go Down To The Woods Today

Polish and German football hooligans met in a wood near Frankfurt an der Oder to fight for the control of Berlin during the coming EURO 2006 Championships. Over 200 men took part in the battle. The German policemen who arrested the hooligans were shocked as they had never witnessed such battles before.

For Polish policemen, these battles have recently become a regular event. Groups of hooligans who are less and less interested in football regularly meet to fight supporters of other football clubs. As the security measures at football stadiums and surrounding streets make fights more and more difficult, the hooligans arrange meetings in secluded places such as the German wood. However, this was the first such fight that took place outside Poland.
