A gala at the Grand Theatre in Lodz has inaugurated the International Film Art Festival “Camerimage”.

During the opening celebrations a special award of merit was presented to Ralf Fiennes, the acclaimed actor who won recognition in such productions as ”Schindler’s List” and “The English Patient”.

Previous editions of “Camerimage” saw the coveted prize, named in honour of the late famous Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski, have gone to Irene Jacob and Charlize Therone. This year’s event promises to be a real treat and record breaker in terms of screen showings with several hundred directors and film stars having announced their participation. 14 masters of the camera will be vying for the Festival’s main prize – The Golden Frog.
