Kaczynski Stokes His Campaign
Warsaw readers of mass-circulation daily Gazeta Wyborcza were surprised by a colourful 30-page long pamphlet called 'Strategy for Warsaw' which was added to today’s issue of the newspaper.
The pamphlet presents a strategy for the future of current mayor of Warsaw Lech Kaczynski. As MP from the Civic Platform Julia Pitera was quick to comment, Mr Kaczynski produced the “strategy” after three years in the office and five days before the presidential elections in which he is one of the leading contenders. As if to add to poignancy of the situation Mr Kaczynski has already announced that he did not intend to seek re-election as mayor. The costs of production and distribution of the leaflet were estimated at 80.000 zloty or 20.000 euro and they were covered by the city budget.
