Poland On Ukrainian Crisis

President Aleksander Kwasniewski is convinced that the sacking of the Ukrainian government will not affect relations between Warsaw and Kiev. The developments in Ukraine should not be taken lightly but this is not a state of emergency, he said.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko fired the government of prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko amid a major corruption scandal, saying the infighting has begun to interfere with the goals he had set for his administration.

The changes will not stop the transformations triggered by the “orange revolution in Ukraine, the Polish president said. Kwasniewski declared that Poland will continue to support Ukraine in its aspirations to join the European Union.

Former Polish president Lech Walesa said that Ukraine cannot build democracy and carry out the necessary reforms in one big leap. The biggest problem is that they do not make too many mistakes, said the former charismatic leader of Solidarity, the first free trade union in a communist bloc.
