President Unlikely To Testify
The parliamentary committee investigating the privatisation of Poland’s oil giant Orlen has called on president Aleksander Kwasniewski to testify. The motion to examine the president has been put forward by a member of the commission from the rightists League of Polish families who demands that the case of the president’s proxy granted to Poland’s richest businessman Jan Kulczyk should be cleared out.
The deputy claims that such a power of attorney had been given and concerns the sale of the Polish energy sector to Russia . Aleksander KwaÊniewski will not stand before the commission said the presidential office. The commission has no right to call the head of state to testify. The head of the presidential office Dariusz Szymczycha said that the commission has no authority to control the head of state.
