Polish Ultimate Champs

At the recent "Poznan Unleashed" Ultimate tournament, held in Poznan, Poland, two Polish ultimate frisbee teams faced one another in a tournament-style match. This marked the first time that two Polish teams have ever played against one another as Poznan's 'Uwaga Pies' went head to head against Warsaw's RJP Squad.

In a spirited, but still competative, game the more experienced boys and girls from Poznan took home the 'W' relying on a smooth, efficient offense and a stiffling defense. However, the Warsaw team would later redeem themselves in the Beer Race, out-chugging and out-running the Poznan squad.

Ultimate is spreading quickly across europe, but has found resistance in Poland, due to the size of this country combined with the size of the average student's wallet! Play here first began 10 years ago, when an American Professor brought the game to the University at Poznan. Another tournament is scheduled in September and will take place in Wroclaw. Perhaps the now-underdog Warsaw squad will take revenge...happy hucking!
