It has been raining non stop since the body of Pope John Paul II was laid to rest in St. Peter’s crypt. The heavens are still mourning. Most of the pilgrims have already made the journey back to their homes. Now the question remains: when will John Paul II be recognized as a saint?
“Everything will depend on the decision of the next pope,” states Vatican spokesperson Joaquin Navarro-Valls on Saturday. Already in many Polish churches, masses are being held to pray for the canonization of the late Pope. Information about miracles surrounding the Pope is starting to materialize – people becoming healthy again after sickness, for example. One of the four examples occurred here in Poland.
The conclave begins in a week, 18th of April. Since Saturday, the cardinals are no longer giving any information to the media. We will have to wait and see who will be responsible for the details of the canonization.
