Alleged Drug Ring Broken

Six Polish and Kurdish men were charged Monday with smuggling amphetamines to Norway in specially built car batteries.

"I can confirm that we have arrested six persons, charged with distribution of a considerable quantity of narcotics," prosecutor Reidar Bruusgaard told Aftenposten. "We think this case can be tied to organized crime in Poland and we have cooperated with Polish police during the investigation."

Police said two secret drug laboratories in Proszkow, Poland, allegedly made the drugs that were then delivered to an obscure pizza restaurant in Fetsund, a small town near Oslo.

The restaurant functioned as a sort of base operation for the drug ring and its owner is among those under arrest, according to the police.

All of the men are either Poles or Kurds who have been living in Norway for several years.
