Poles Turn Out For Tibetans

 

More than 300 people gathered Thursday in front of Chinese Embassy in Warsaw tto commemorate the 46th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising against China held by thousands of Tibetans at Lhasa in 1959.

Protesters unfolded several score meters long "Free Tibet" and "Free Tenzin Delek" banners and also carried portraits of Dalai Lama, Mahatma Ghandi and Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. During the manifestation the representative of Tibetan community in Poland read both in Polish and English the statement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The protesters commemorated with one minute of silence in the memory of all victims of Tibet's occupation by China and listened to the Tibetan National Anthem. The Tibetan National Uprising Day commemorative protests are being organized annualy by Polish-Tibetan Friendship Association.
