The 195th anniversary of Chopin’s birth is fast approaching! The F. Chopin Society will celebrate it in Sanniki on February 20th with a concert by pianist Wojciech Switala and actress Magdalena Cwalowna and with the opening of Barbara Perlikowska's painting exhibition. On February 22nd piano recitals by pianists Jerzy Sterczynski and Karol Radziwonowicz will be held in the manor, where the composer was born, Zelazowa Wola, and at the seat of the F. Chopin Society, Ostrogski Castle in Warsaw.
An anniversary concert featuring three distinguished Polish instrumentalists - pianist Krzysztof Jablonski, cellist Tomasz Strahl and violinist Konstanty Andrzej Kulka - will be held at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw on February 23rd.
On February 24th young pianists - Rafal Blechacz, winner of the Piano Competition in Hamamatsu in 2003, and Maria Gabrys, laureate of the 3rd prize at the International F. Chopin Piano Competition in Marienbad – will pay a musical tribute to the composer at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. The pianists will be accompanied by string quintet I Solisti di Varsavia.
On February 27th tenor Wojciech Maciejowski, accompanied by pianist Laura Sobolewska, will give a recital at the Radziwill Hunting Palace in Antonin.
A special Chopin evening will take place on February 28th at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw.
A recital by an eminent pianist from Vietnam Dang Thai Son will be held on March 1st at the National Philharmonic. The recital will be organized by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute and the National Philharmonic.
