The Polish privatisation authorities have received 20 requests for memorandums for the upcoming privatisation of Polmos Bialystok, the local press reported today.

Bialystok is the country’s largest distiller and produces brands such as Zubrowka and Absolwent.

The companies named in the Polish press as being interested include Polmos Lublin, Pernod Ricard, Bols, Allied Domecq and Diageo.

However, the favourite at the moment is the Swedish state-run Vin & Sprit.

A spokeswoman for V&S was quoted saying the company was keen to develop the international market. She wouldn’t, however, comment on any specifics as to whether V&S was looking at Bialystok.

The Ministry of Treasury would like 20 to 30% of the company's shares to be sold in a public offering, with the controlling stake going to a trade investor in the second half of 2005.
