History of Polish Jews Museum to Open in 2013

The construction of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews is approximately 50 per cent finished, with a projected opening date now set to April 19 2013. The opening will coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Jewish uprising against the Nazis in Warsaw.

The Museum is being constructed in the district of Muranow, and will trace the 1000-year history of Polish Jews for the approximately 500 000 visitors expected each year.

Polish Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski also announced that the museum will receive up to 10 million zloty in funding to subsidize the total construction cost of approximately 200 million zloty.
