Grand Opening of Chopin Museum
Grey, rainy skies welcomed the grand opening of the Chopin Museum where a group of officials, diplomats, and members of the press attended the opening ceremonies at the foot of the museum. The busy Tamka street on which the museum is located was mysteriously closed off for five hours while the ceremony took place - though the ceremony itself took place on the side of the road, and apart from a few curious passers-by, no spectators arrived at the scene whatsoever.
Essentially a glorified press conference, the ceremonies opened the museum to the press which has already eagerly reported back to the Polish public, declaring the museum a 21st century cultural wonder. The front cover of today's Gazeta newspaper even compared the museum to The Matrix.
Very little information has been available to the public up until now, and it was only now made clear that the museum will not open to the public today as we have previously reported. The Chopin Museum will be open only to VIP guests and organized school trips and will open fully to the public on 6 April 2010. Entrance is set to cost 22 zloty.
Strangely enough, a new website is not yet available, but basic info is listed on the Chopin institute's website.
