The full schedule for Warsaw’s public New Year’s Eve celebrations has been announced, with several Polish and international guests on the menu alongside the fireworks display set to take place at midnight.
International musical acts scheduled for the night include Shaun Baker and Maloy, September, Bananarama, and Snap. Polish artists include Edyta Gorniak, Andrzej Piaseczny, Maciej Malenczuk, Stachursky, Urszula, Lady Pank, Big Cyc, Szwagierkolaska, Muniek, Formacja Niezywych Schabuff, Norbi, Natalia Lesz, Alicja Wegorzewska, Bracia and Formacja Chatelet.
This year’s theme is the music of Michael Jackson so expect plenty of cover versions (both good and bad, we presume). In honor of the late king of pop, a moonwalking competition will also take place crowning Poland’s own king or queen of the famed dance.
Warsaw’s New Year’s Eve party is the largest in Poland, with over 100 000 attending in 2008 and over 13 million viewers tuning in on TV.
The bash will take place on Plac Konstytucji square off Marszalkowska street in downtown Warsaw, with celebrations starting at 8pm and finishing off at 2:30am.
