Volatile Weather in Warsaw
Freezing cold weather brought much of Europe to a halt throughout December, plunging to temperatures of -20 Celsius or more in Warsaw. A blanket of snow covered the city, and while the appearance is indeed magical, the side effects of such weather are often little to celebrate about. Nearly 80 people have died in Poland from the harsh weather, the majority of which were homeless. However, this number is not unusual for Poland as the country's winters are typically quite severe.
Those with little protection against the elements will be at least slightly relieved to hear that the freezing temperatures have warmed up to over 0 degrees, though the snow has quickly transformed into pouring rain.
It looks like this year's Christmas will not be a white one but a rather wet and grey holiday. Better luck next year!
