As we reported earlier this year, prices for train travel between Krakow and Warsaw is being driven lower and lower by fierce competition between providers in Poland.
The usual choice to make when travelling to Krakow has been between the pospieszny train which takes 5 hours and costs 50 zloty and the Intercity train which takes 3 hours and costs 100 zloty. Neither choice is particuarly appealing, and luckily the train providers in Poland have started to notice.
Now, along with the InterRegio service, a new service called Tanie Linie Kolejowe (TLK - "Affordable Train Service") will be launched on December 13th. The expected travel time is 3 hours with tickets at 35 zloty. This may only be 5 zloty less than the current InterRegio service, but TLK offers the added option of reserving a seat for 10 zloty extra in the first class section (currently InterRegio operates only on a "first come first serve" basis).
In addition, a new selection of special offers and deals will be announced online on January 1 2010.
