...Or at least one of his most famous manuscripts is! The Frederic Chopin Museum in Warsaw has just acquired the original score of “Faintaisie-Impromptu” by Frederic Chopin, a manuscript it has been wanting for years. The most famous composer of Poland wrote this piece in baroness d’Este’s album, which Polish Chopin researchers have been trying to get for years, though the Chopin museum couldn't raise the required €300,000 it went for in an auction in 2002.
However, recently the manuscript was put back on sale in the US, and this time the Chopin Museum was able to acquire the needed sum to buy it. In addition to Chopin's script, the album also contains notes by other famous composers such as Rossini and Bellini. | Source: Warsaw Life | Nov.27.2007 |
