Concerts on the 155th Anniversary of Chopin's Death.
The 155th anniversary of Chopin's death falls on October 17th. To Poles, the Romantic composer is a national hero and there will be a range of events to mark the anniversary.
To mark the day, flowers will be laid by the urn with Chopin's heart in the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw at 10.15 a.m.
The palace in Sanniki, where the Frederick Chopin Centre is based, stages a Chopin recital by Waldemar Wojtal, Vice-Chancellor at the Academy of Music in Gdansk.
Jerzy Sterczynski performs an all-Chopin program in Ostrogski Castle, which houses the Frederick Chopin Society and Museum.
On October 24th Elzbieta Tarnawska, Professor at F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, finalist of the International Chopin Piano Competition in 1975 and laureate of the M. Long – J. Thibaud Competition in Paris in 1977, gives a recital featuring music by Chopin in Antonin, Poland.
