An advisor to the Russian president Sergei Yastzhemsbki is in Warsaw for talks on the improvement of Polish-Russian relations. He is meeting foreign minister Stefan Meller and is expected to hold talks with President Lech Kaczynski.
The first signals suggesting a possible thaw in the tense bilateral relations appeared some two weeks ago. Last January Russian president Vladimir Putin spoke warmly of Poland at a meeting with foreign journalists. President Kaczynski discussed prospects for improving Polish-Russian relations in talks with US President George Bush in Washington earlier this month. He said then that he hoped relations would improve. | Source: Radio Polonia | Feb.20.2006 |
