What Next For The Dude?
Cologne have become the latest club willing to offer Jerzy Dudek an escape route out of Liverpool.
The goalkeeper's agent yesterday claimed the German club are interested in signing the Poland international, who is desperate for a move from Anfield after falling behind both Pepe Reina and Scott Carson in Rafael Benitez's pecking order.
The 32-year-old has not started a game for Liverpool since his match-winning heroics in the Champions League final last May, and wants to move during this month's transfer window to safeguard his international place ahead of this summer's World Cup.
And Dudek's agent Jan de Zeeuw said: "Jerzy wants to play at the World Cup and just to play football again.
"Jerzy would be willing to move to Germany and join Cologne, but we need to reach a compromise with Liverpool."
However, any deal would hinge on whether cash-strapped Cologne can raise enough funds to finance the deal.
Cologne, currently joint bottom of the Bundesliga, would have to find at least £3million to sign Dudek, with Liverpool unwilling to allow the player leave on anything other than a permanent basis.
