Poet Passes On

Polish priest and popular poet father Jan Twardowski has died in a hospital in Warsaw at the age of 90.

His poetic debut came in 1936 with a small tome titled "Andersen's Return". "Signs of Trust" and "Blue Eyeglasses" were among the collections which brought him broader popularity in the early 1960's.

Jan Twardowski won numerous literary awards both at home and abroad. Critics lauded his simple but profound observations made using an exceptional sense of intuition. His often humorous and deeply perceptive poetry is read both by children and adults.
