Exhibition: Have Fun With Einstein!

The exhibition prepared by the Italian Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali in a cooperation with Trent University's physicists has already been shown in the United States, China and many European countries, where it was very well received not only by the public, but also by the critics. The exhibition shows the genius physicist Albert Einstein's revolutionary theories. It also gives a wide perspective on the most important scientific studies of the 19th and 20th century. The exhibition is being shown in the Palace of Culture and Science (on the 2nd, 6th and 30th floors). It presents over 50 installations, interactive stations and informative panels. All of you science maniacs can catch it until the 15th of September.

Exhibition: Chinese Art

The exhibition of painting, craftsmanship and Chinese graphic art includes about 360 art objects from the National Museum in Warsaw's collection. It consists of two independent parts: an exposition of Chinese painting and another presenting craftsmanship and Chinese graphic art. 60 objects from Chinese painting are exhibited on the first floor, divided into three parts: religious and cult paintings, landscape and figural painting and 20th century and forgery painting. On the top floor the most beautiful art works such as tomb figurines, ceramics from the Song age and several artworks imitating ancient style are presented. It's also possible to see famous Chinese porcelain, bronze, plaque, glass, ivory and jade. This exhibition is a very rare opportunity to see Chinese art on such a large-scale, so if you're into Chinese culture, you simply can't miss it!

14th International Jazz at the Old Town Square Festival

This event is one of Poland's most praised and most attended jazz festivals. Last year three to four thousands people gathered in the Old Town Square to listen to some of the most famous jazz stars in the world. It's also one of the longest European jazz festivals ever, and presents various jazz styles such as mainstream, swing, fusion, modern jazz, Klezmer jazz, Latin, "third set" and world jazz. Its undeniable advantage is the fact that it's open to the public who can enjoy their favourite jazz musicians for free. Exhibition: Establishment (And Its Discontents)

The exhibition titled "Establishment" focuses most on establishment as a source of discontent, expressed through several types of media by Polish young Polish artists. Displaying paintings, installations, animation, visual poetry, and performance art, the exhibition focuses on the newest generation of Polish artists, those born in the 1970s, who are now rebelling against the modern forms established by preceding generations.

Exhibition: The Dog in a City

"The Dog in a City" exhibition will be showing at the Kardegarda Gallery (a subsection of the Zacheta National Gallery of Art) throughout August until the 7th of September. The exhibition is another notch in the bed of the "Room With a View" series, featuring the works of five individual artists and one artistic duo: Katarzyna Cichon, Tatiana Czekalska & Leszek Golec, Maksymilian Lukomski, Wojciech Pustola, and Malgorzata Soltysiak. The artworks represent various techniques, from photography and video to drawing, painting, and sculpture.

Exhibition: Points of Reference

Points of Reference is an exhibition showcasing the collection of the Foundation of Contemporary Art of the National Museum in Warsaw. The exhibition consists of over 40 works from 19 different Polish artists from the 1970s to the present day, and is the first presentation of the extent of the foundation's collection to the general public. 2008 marks the 10 year anniversary of the foundation's first purchase, and this presentation of their acquisitions since then aims to make modern art more accessible and popular amongst the general public.

Exhibition: Still Life Landscape

Test Gallery, located right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city on Marszalkowska Street, is the setting for an exhibition of Marian Murawski's landscapes. Murawski, who graduated the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 1960, will be exhibiting his newest works; landscapes of monumental proportions depicting the places closest to the artist's heart, Wilenszczyny and Suwalszczyzny.

Concert: Marcin Wasilewski Trio

The Marcin Wasilewski Trio, formerly known as the Simple Acoustic Trio, is a group formed in the early 1990s led by jazz pianist Marcin Wasilewski. Having won dozens of awards in various jazz competitions, the trio has appeared on a number of important stages in Poland, as well as throughout Europe and the U.S. They have also released several albums to critical acclaim, with reviews in the Jazz Times and The Washington Post. This year, the ECM record company released another album by the trio, this time under their new name. And in August, the trio will head home to play a special performance in Warsaw's Fabryka Trzciny Artistic Centre. Tickets are available through the centre's website.

Chopin and His Europe Festival

The 4th International Music Festival "Chopin and His Europe" in Warsaw: From Pogorelich to Tchaikowski will bring 23 concerts, 9 symphonic programmes, 14 piano recitals and chamber concerts, and over 200 performers to the capital city. The festival aims to familiarize the listener with the heritage of Romanticism in classical music, from Mozart to Chopin to modern composers following the tradition. This year's edition particularly emphasizes the eminent and sadly forgotten Polish pianist and composer Andrzej Czajkowski (Andre Tchaikowsky), whose 2nd piano concerto, originally composed in 1975, will be premičred at the festival. Amongst Polish masters of the ivory keys, some the contemporary greats from all over the world will perform, including Ivo Pogorelich, who inaugurates the festival, Michie Koyama, Piers Lane and Alexei Lubimov, amongst many others, including some younger pianists. Polish orchestras will also take part, including the Warsaw Philharmonic under Antoni Wit.

Concert: Sigur Ros

Icelandic post-rockers turned pop-rockers are playing in Warsaw to promote the release of their fifth studio album, "meš suš ķ eyrum viš spilum endalaust" ("With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly"). Expect plenty of emotions and orchestral moments, as the band often tours with a string quartet to heighten the melodic experience. Supporting Sigur Ros will be the Icelandic solo musician Olafur Arnalds.
