Exhibition: Have fun with Einstein!

The exhibition prepared by the Italian Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali in a cooperation with Trent University's physicists has already been shown in the United States, China and many European countries, where it was very well received not only by the public, but also by the critics. The exhibition shows the genius physicist Albert Einstein's revolutionary theories. It also gives a wide perspective on the most important scientific studies of the 19th and 20th century. The exhibition is being shown in the Palace of Culture and Science (on the 2nd, 6th and 30th floors). It presents over 50 installations, interactive stations and informative panels. All of you science maniacs can catch it until the 15th of September.

Another City, Another Life

The "Another City, Another Life" project takes a look at the transformation of Warsaw's public spaces and compares them to other post-communist cities in Europe. A mix of incomplete socialist modernisation and modern-day market forces have transformed Warsaw's urban spaces into what they are today, for better or worse. The project also focuses on the function of art in the shaping of these spaces.

Warsaw Summer Jazz Days

One of the most famous jazz festivals in Poland presents musicians from all over the world, who will perform in numerous venues in Warsaw such as the Congressional Hall, the National Philharmonic, Krolikarnia Palace, Torwar Arena, the Traffic Club, as well as the square in front of the main entrance to the Palace of Culture and Science and the building's inner courtyard (Lapidarium). The festival has been going on since 1992 and is one of the most popular events in Warsaw's summer calendar. A full programme of the event will be available from the Tourist Office prior to the event. We can only promise that the Pat Metheny Trio, Brandford Marsalis Quartet, Anna Maria Jopek, Leszek Mozdzer and Bobby McFerrin will be there. The tickets are quite expensive but it's definitely worth it!

14th International Jazz at the Old Town Square Festival

This event is one of Poland's most praised and most attended jazz festivals. Last year three to four thousands people gathered in the Old Town Square to listen to some of the most famous jazz stars in the world. It's also one of the longest European jazz festivals ever, and presents various jazz styles such as mainstream, swing, fusion, modern jazz, Klezmer jazz, Latin, "third set" and world jazz. Its undeniable advantage is the fact that it's open to the public who can enjoy their favourite jazz musicians for free. The detailed programme hasn't been announced yet, but check back on Warsaw Life for updates!

14th Film Summer Festival in Warsaw

Warsaw invites you to yet another movie festival. Apart from movie showings, Script Festival is being organized. It'll include lectures, seminaries and special meetings with the best Polish and foreign scriptwriters. At the end, an award for a movie with the best script will be granted. It seems that a lot of really interesting films are going to be shown (for example those by Jean Luc Godard, Claude Chabrol, Eric Rohmer, Francois Truffaut and Alain Resnais). If you're bored by the classics though, you can pick some lesser known pictures describing life in Romania and North Korea. For those of you who missed this season's top movies, the organizers prepared a special show. If you get tired with the movies, there is an alternative: the festival will be accompanied by a whole range of concerts of Polish and foreign artists, as well as exhibitions and lectures given by the best movie experts, held in the most hip Warsaw clubs and cafes. And hey, the admission to all those movies and shows are free!

Exhibition: Chinese Art

The exhibition of painting, craftsmanship and Chinese graphic art includes about 360 art objects from the National Museum in Warsaw's collection. It consists of two independent parts: an exposition of Chinese painting and another presenting craftsmanship and Chinese graphic art. 60 objects from Chinese painting are exhibited on the first floor, divided into three parts: religious and cult paintings, landscape and figural painting and 20th century and forgery painting. On the top floor the most beautiful art works such as tomb figurines, ceramics from the Song age and several artworks imitating ancient style are presented. It's also possible to see famous Chinese porcelain, bronze, plaque, glass, ivory and jade. This exhibition is a very rare opportunity to see Chinese art on such a large-scale, so if you're into Chinese culture, you simply can't miss it!
