INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION OF CONTEMPORARY ART 5TH EDITION

The 5th edition of the Centre for Contemporary Art's International Art Collection will feature works from over 90 artists, including over 30 from abroad, incorporating different media such as painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, installations, video, recordings of art happenings and public projects. The exhibition will provide a sort of retrospective for the Centre, which has accumulated one of the best collections of modern art in Poland over its 20 years, reflecting the metamorphosis of the country through art. The works presented span the era from the early 1960s until the present decade, and feature both prominent Polish artists as well as those they drew inspiration from. The exhibition opens at the end of March and runs through the 6th of September.

CONCERT: ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA

The legendary Frank Zappa may no longer be with us, but luckily his biggest fan, son Dweezil Zappa, is continuing the legacy and touring his father's material around the world. The Zappa child with the least giggle-inducing name (compared to his sisters Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen and Moon Unit), Dweezil has had plenty of acting and musical experience on his own, but it looks like he's also been hooked on his dad's endlessly fascinating sounds. It's the best kind of cover band we could hope for. Tickets 119 to 159 zloty with doors opening at 7pm.

For this concert, the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the best and brightest of Poland's young classical musicians. These recent graduates of the Frederyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw will be led by conductor Monika Cybulska. Don't forget that it's one of the last chances to see a classical concert in the city's philharmonic hall as the orchestra goes on holiday until the season begins again this autumn.

CONCERT: SLIPKNOT

Slipknot are nine frighteningly masked guys, playing heavy rock and nu-metal, screaming into mics and jumping like maniacs on stage. Sounds lovely doesn't it? Well if you count yourself as one of the band's 'maggots' (Slipknot's words, not ours!), then head straight to Torwar for a night of loud, over-the-top fun. Tickets 125 to 180 zloty.

The narrative is full of symbols and hidden meanings, as characters in his real life interact with characters from his drawings and paintings. There's no risk of getting lost in translation either - The Man of Wood is a play wihout words!
