Freeform Film Festival

An eclectic programme of visual arts and contemporary music returns for its second year in the capital. Films, live music acts, DJ sets, VJ sets, other visualisations, multi-media shows and just about anything else you can do with a screen and a computer will stimulate the creative juices.

Warsaw International Film Festival

Film fans are in for a treat this October as the Warsaw Film Fest rolls into town. Expect art-house offerings from every corner of the globe, with a special emphasis of course on up-and-coming Polish talent. Films are usually screened in their original language with Polish subtitles and participating cinemas include Kinoteka (Palace of Science and Culture on pl. Defilad 1), Relax (ul. Zlota 8) and Luna (ul. Marszalkowska 28).

Warsaw Reggae Festival

Poland is reggae mad. Outside Jamaica and Brixton you won’t find a more loyal following of the life-celebrating genre. Expect a crazy crowd to turn up to see heroes such as Habakuk, Vibronics and the Joint Venture Soundsystem rockin’ the mic. The action starts at 16:00, tickets 33 PLN.

JVC Jazz Jamboree

Warsaw’s very own Jazz Jamboree is one of the longest running jazz festivals in Europe. Miles Davies, Keith Jarrett and Dizzie Gillespie have all performed here over the years and you can expect a suitably strong line-up in 2006. Beard-strokingly good!
