Dom Polski

Dom Polski, which is located in a secluded villa in the Saska Kepa district, is a charming restaurant with excellent food to match. The gracious interiors should swiftly spirit you away from the hubbub of the metropolis, and the lovely summer garden provides a further winning factor. The restaurant offers modern interpretations of traditional Polish cuisine, beginning with an excellent range of soups and moving on to classics such as wild boar, trout and venison. Puddings are a real treat, and a must for those with a sweet tooth. On Sundays Dom Polski provides a very reasonable family lunch - another tempting reason to cross the river.

Dom Polski

"I am fortunate in that this restaurant is local to my apartment and I frequent it on a regular basis, sometimes just for a light lunch. I would disagree that people go there because it is the place to be seen. A lot of Saska Kepa locals use the place too. Maybe it appears too "correct" but I can assure you that the waiters are capable of "banter". Perhaps the language barrier kills this if you don't speak Polish. The food has always been excellent."

"Agree. A little too 'correct' for my liking, but food is worth it. Important to book in advance, as this place can get pretty full for business lunches and the like. Everyone who wants to impress their clients normally takes them here!"

"A bit stiff and over-formal - but if that's how you like your meal, perfect! The food itself is very, very good."

"My father has always joked to my mother about the excellence of authentic Polish cuisine. Unlike dad, however, I had the opportunity to experience the real thing a few weeks ago on my trip to Warsaw. I attempted to first make reservations at two of the top Polish restaurants at the last moment, and was fortunate to snag a spot here. I was not disappointed. The restaurant has a truly atmospheric quality about it; a classical European country house in the big and bustling Capital. The food was excellent as well. Among the dishes I partook were a Polish style soup with sorrel, ham, potatoes, and a quail egg, and a superb pheasant dish with red onions and potatoes, as well as a wild mushroom and snail stew. The Zagat review warned that I would be stuffed after the dinner, and with a HUGE pear sorbet for dessert, as well as lots of bread, I certainly was. I can now safely say that Polish cuisine has certainly come of age, and can compete with the best of the rest of European cuisine. With excellent service and a truly homey quality about it, Restaurant Dom Polski is among the best of European cuisine in Europe."

"I wouldn't say it is so brilliant which everybody says. I have an impression lately that people come there because it is so popular and it is "good to be seen there"..."

"Really had a great meal here. Gotta love this Polish food! Back in the States we're so health conscious, no restaurant would dare serve all this filling stuff like they do here in Poland - but it doesn't seem to make much difference - Polish people are the fittest and slimmest in the world! So get down to Dom Polski and tuck into the hearty meals without feeling too guilty!"
