Sense Cafe email

One of the most popular places in the whole of Warsaw, Sense Cafe is still basking in the glory of being the city's first fusion restaurant. And why not? The mix of Asian and European cuisine rarely falls short of fantastic, the decor is modern and unpretentious, and the charismatic waitresses deliver your drinks on cue, whilst bravely dealing with your persistent flirting. What's more, some smart alec in charge of the menu has cleverly replaced boring subtitles such as 'side-dishes' and 'hot dishes' with racy names like 'brief affairs' and 'hardcore'. Which means you can legitimately suggest to your fellow diners skipping 'foreplay', and getting straight to 'wet' and 'wild'...

Sense Cafe

Went to this place last Saturday night (2nd Oct 2010) - we arrived pretty late (10ish) or so we thought! This place was very busy but we were able to get a table after a few minutes. There was a wedding party in the backroom so the atmosphere was lively.. the food wasn't too bad either! The starter combo is oriental, overall not too bad but slightly oily. The mains.. I went for the Bubble & Squeak which was cooked to perfection and my colleague went for the surf and turf which was also very nice - the prawns were on the small side though. The cocktails were strong but can't complain about that can you..

Overall a very good vibe from this place with a lot of expats, we had a nice chat with some American students from the Uni who were sat next to us and also a couple from India.

The staff seem to be a bit frazzled and had to remind them a couple times for certain things but other then that its definitely worth a visit.

After so many years I still think that Sense is one of the best restaurant in Poland! If you want to eat tasty and fusion food and finish with amazing drinks you should go there!!!
I personaly think that complains should go to the managers or owner of the place to help solve the problem. Thats how inteligent people do!!!

Possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Appalling food(sloppy and tasteless) at ridiculous prices. The only reason you'd want to go there is if you want to blow away some money on alcohol. Could serve as a more refined bar/pub. Don't go there

I've seldom seen such a messy menu

Around the bar is always either completely deserted or so packed that it's uncomfortable!

Sense is such a great place - I think you are being a bit unfair. Never personally had anything but a great time there. It was good to see it on CNN on the section presented by Warsaw Life's Kasia Ostrowski!

Sense is rapidly going out of favour as they seem to be really hiking up the prices for no reason. It's a bit hit or miss and sometimes tries far too hard at the interesting 'fusion' concept, that idea's all a bit 90's anyway. Just too many ingredients which seems to mess it all up and give most dishes a very similar pallor. Ray is a very decent chap though, he should set up his own place and get all new staff.

Unlike their description, there are no girls 'bravely' doing anything. They are all fat and ugly. And an all male bar staff with attitude. Rather boring place to be in the summer.

food is okay, better than most in Warsaw, but nothing to write home about. Bar staff is a bunch of guys with no personality. Why they don't hire a few cute girls, I'll never know.

Sat at the bar a few times and have to say there is actually no place to sit because they have 20 chairs crammed into an area that should only fit 15.

Sense has a very loyal following. In all my years of regular patronage, I have never been overcharged. In fact, I have been the recipient of many a free drink. I also witnessed the events described below. A very drunk American indeed ordered a BOTTLE of wine, which the bartender presented and then opened. It was the same wine the guy's boss and his friend had been drinking all night, and the drunk American even conferred with his boss's friend before ordering. The entire party was too drunk (or tired, or whatever) to finish the bottle, and so the American guy proceeded to sneak out of Sense with what remained. Well, he got caught, and his boss ended up having to pay. So This story really looks more like a way of saving face than an accurate restaurant review. Sense is great. The Financial Times Only Place to Eat In Warsaw, Lonely Planet's top pick of rstaurants in Warsaw, The Warsaw Insider's Best Restaurant in Warsaw. Do not believe the sob story of drunk American.

BUYER BEWARE!

This restaurant will add "unknown" items to your bill if you sit at the bar.

Ray the owner, is a great guy, but when he's not there you're shit out of luck with all the other managers if you need help sorting this out. I have a very strong feeling there's a little scamming going on with the bartenders.

I probably will never return there.

whatever you do...don't go to sense. The description above couldn't be farther from the truth. NO GIRLS EVER. no female staff or patrons. Just a bunch of stuffy old expats.
Two times I have been there they overcharged me. The first time was extra items on our bill that we all know we didn't eat or drink. They refused to remove it from the bill.

I stupidly went back again and this time my friend ordered a GLASS of wine and they brought him the bottle...opened. Then they refused to let us go without paying for the whole thing. First of all, they should have opened this bottle in our presence. Secondly, they should have simply recorked the bottle and served my friend a glass of wine like he ordered. The manager even threatened to call the police if we didn't pay. I responded with "Go ahead, call them. I bet they can't get here before I can knock some SENSE into you."
The worst place in warsaw to be overcharged for second rate food in a third rate atmosphere.
