Chlopskie Jadlo email

Chlopskie Jadlo (Peasant's Fare) was a runaway hit in Cracow and it was only a matter of time before their winning formula arrived in the capital. As the name suggests, you can expect rustic, hearty dishes served up in a dainty, folkish atmosphere. A further bonus is the gloriously incongruous nature of the setting - Plac Konstitucji is arguably the most imposing slice of social realist architecture in the entire city, perhaps second only to the stonking Stalinist Palace of Culture itself. Enjoy those pails of 'smalec' lads. Only in Poland.

Chlopskie Jadlo

I have eaten in this restaurant in both Krakow and now Warsaw. If you want to try simple Polish traditional food in the farmhouse rustic style this is a great place to go.
Thick wooden tables and chairs, some food is served on wooden platters. Excellent selection of meats and traditional pierogi as well as lots of other dishes.
Waiters are in traditional costume. Prices are fine.

I've been to this locale several times, trying a number of dishes. The starters are excellent, and the Golabki are some of the best that I've had. Unfortunately, the service is about the worst that I have experienced in Warsaw. Each time I have to flag down a waiter/waitress, each time I have to ask repeatedly for a check, and each time they disappear for good after serving the food. The most recent (and most certainly the last) visit consisted of myself and a colleague seating ourselves at a table (since nobody was in sight), and waiting a good 15 minutes for someone to even approach us. It's not as if it were busy, as there was one other customer and three members of the staff sitting against a wall talking instead of doing their jobs. Good food, horrible service.

In total agreement with most comments. Chlopski jadlo seem to have hit it just right for visitors. Great.

If you are a tourist visiting the city for a short trip I can thoroughly recommend this place to get a real taste of Poland. Loved the atmosphere and authentic looking interior and the food was a hearty, country style revelation.

I'm not a big fan of chain places but this place was really fine and the "Ruskie Pierogi" were the best I had in Warsaw. Good service, Polish folk style rooms and relaxing atmoshere. Congratulations!

I LOVE the traditional Polish dish. "Ruskie Pierogi" YUM! "Tripe" soup.Mmmm. Oh, who can forget THE LARD with the pork crackle through it. Thank you POLSKA for such "beaut" food.

I've been to this place twice and been happy both times. The sheeps cheese starter is delicious (oscypek?) and I highly recommend it! I've had one dessert there also. The sweet pancakes with cottage cheese and vanilla. I like my cheese. Lovely!

The Chlopskie Jadlo restaurants all over Poland (not just this one) used to be quite good actually, a few years ago. Recently, as it turned into a chain and spread, the quality dropped as the prices rose, sadly. Now pretty much the majority of their customers seem to be tourists taken in by the folksy interiors, but there are far better places to taste genuine Polish food without the Disney decor. A few months ago, the Chlopskie Jadlo chain was bought out by another, bigger theme-restaurant Group, so I'm afraid the writing's on the wall for this one! Go elsewhere!

I visited this restaurant with my friends.A very pleasent atmosphere, friendly staff, nice rooms and a good selection of Polish original dishes to choose from the ones we tried were excellent. We will remember this evening long time.

I second that - Chlopskie Jadlo used to be quality but now it's just touristy kitsch with overpriced food. the one thing that hasn't changed and is still worth going for is their bread with szmalec and cream cheese appetizer.
