Cafe Blikle website

This old world venue on the Nowy Swiat has been dishing up the best cakes in Warsaw since way back in 1869. A cafe in the classic Viennese mould, it oozes traditional charm and suave elegance with it's long tables, tall ceilings and highly-polished surfaces. Blikle's cakes are famous nationwide in Poland, and their desserts and ice-cream are well worthy dipping into your pocket for - so you'll definitely want to stay for more than just a cup of tea! Those who find themselves in need of more than just a snack won't be disappointed by the Blikle's breakfast and main meal choices, and for some there's even a taste of home in the shape of English newspapers. Find the Blikle delicatessen and confectioners next door!

Cafe Blikle

Wholly lived up to its outstanding reputation. I thought the prices were reasonable, given the quality and atmosphere. There's free wifi as well.

Ok, for the ppl that don't like this place then well I don't know what to tell you. Just about every Polish American, especially in Chicago, comes to this place at least once while in Warsaw. Are these treats American. NO!!! That's the best part! Their paczkis are the standard that just about every Polish American bakery goes by. Even if you live in Warsaw, which I did, this was THE place to sweets!!!!

We went there today for a coffee and it was good and comfortable. Nice cakes available and well dressed waiters and waitresses.

I was introduced to Cafe Blikle in 2000 when my aunty lived in Poland. Went back in 2002 with my parents and then took my husband in 2008. Try the famous Polish raspberry donut. You will love it.

A must-see in Warsaw and a true cultural experience. I told my Polish friends about this place back home and they were all impressed!

Blickle's pastries were favorites of General de Gaulle who used to order them sent to him in Paris weekly. I thought this seemed unlikely UNTIL I tasted their cakes and doughnuts (stuffed with rose petal jam, glazed and sprinkled with candied orange peel!) Sheer bliss.

The best donuts in Poland and perhaps the world. Krispy Kreme should take a leaf out of their book.

I don't care if I gain a bit of weight because of that place, it is so good that it's worth it!

I was quite dissappointed with this place - granted all guests inside were foreigners, hence the high prices. But when I pay, I expect quality - and it was definitely lacking. Perhaps I ordered the wrong item... regardless do not try the fried banana dessert - completely UNimpressed!

I always visit when i am in Warsaw.
This excellent Cafe reminds me so much of Betty's Cafe in Harrogate & York. Service and quality is spot on.

Of course, Americans generally have bad taste (as is atested in a review I see *ahem*) :). Blikle serves traditional Polish pasteries, which have a rich tradition. I do remember a Polish friend commenting that about 30 years ago, she thought the paczki from Blikle were not as good as from some other small bakery which would be fluffy, but personally I find it charming with its art nouveau decor and delicious food.

A Warsaw classic that has survived since 1869 and an absolute must for every foreigner to visit. Try the poppyseed creations for a true Polish treat that you can't find anywhere else. The cafe and bakery next door are in the same location that I believe they have been since the very start. For a city that was destroyed completely after WWII, this cafe is an amazing survivor. Once in a while the service has been a bit slow, and the prices are pretty much top dollar, but still worth it. After visiting the cafe, go next door to the bakery and buy some of their famous wares to take home. Their doughnuts are famous throughout Poland.

I was left a box of Blikle's chocolates while my Polish uncle was over for a visit. Have to say they were finished rather quickly between myself and my Norweigan friend. My Polish flatmates (from Warsaw and Krakow) told me I had good taste. Thankyou Pete! I'm certainly thinking of a visit when I go to Warsaw for the first time this year!
