Cafe Nowy Swiat is one of the grande dames of Warsaw's cafes, and from its opening in 1883, it was one of the in places for artists and fashionable cats about town. The famous Dudek cabaret entertained here, as well a host of other arts groups. Although you are unlikely to encounter vamps sporting silver cigarette cases, puffing away through straw-like holders, you may well encounter their twenty first century incarnations. Film stars and politicians still frequent this elegant hangout. And the cafe itself has had a modern once over, making this a light and airy place to drop by on this fashionable street.
