Warsaw Rising Museum

The noble and tragic struggle of the Warsaw Uprising, and the people who partook in it, have finally been commemorated by this excellent museum, set up in the building of an old power station. Two thousand square metres of space mean that there's plenty of room to do honour to the Polish Home Army, as well as to bring those extremely difficult times to life. Replica radio stations and sewer systems, plenty of old photos and some insightful video footage ensure that as accurate a picture as possible is presented of the doomed struggle... A must see in Warsaw! If you want to learn more about the heroism, atrocities and murky politics of this crucial event in Poland's history, then click here.

"The best museum in the city - probably in Poland. If you're in Poland and really want to learn of its tragic history, you should visit this museum and the Auschwitz concentration camp."

"Though I've been to Warsaw many times, this was my first trip to the Warsaw Rising Museum, and I was very impressed. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of thinking I could see everything within two hours - I was wrong and will have to return to properly explore the top floor. You really do need a whole afternoon to visit this place, especially if you're a history buff like me. The films, particularly the one shown on the big screen, are amazing and sad, and there are many eyewitness accounts from survivors of the uprising that are moving and powerful testaments to the time."

"This museum shows the people that war is a disaster. When you enter inside Second World War atmosphere covers you and it takes you back in history. You see, hear and FEEL the war. When you go out from museum, it leaves you a stamp on your heart. "

"This is an excellent museum, and is a 'must see' for anyone who is either interested in the recent history of Poland, history of WWII or of the Jews in Poland. The exhibits are superb, and be sure to stop at the mini movie theatres to watch the films taken inside the ghetto at the time of the Rising. "
