If you're driving between Warsaw and Cracow, this it a pitstop that art lovers can't miss. The famed Centre of Polish Sculpture is located in an elegant old manor house in Oronsko, 120 km south of Warsaw. It was originally opened as a workshop in 1965, before being upgraded to a full-blown centre in 1981. The artists have made inventive use of the gardens, which provide a wonderful arena for the exhibition of their work. The Centre owns an impressive 500 pieces in all, including some treasures from the inter-war avant garde period. Don't miss it if you're on the road! |
