Teatr Wielki

The Grand Theatre is the mac daddy of 'em all in Warsaw. This fine and gargantuan edifice can house a good deal of culture-enthusiasts. Close to 2,000 theatre-goers can enjoy performances on the main stage alone. Add to that a separate hall and the country's only Museum of Theatre, and you've got yourself a thorough thespian offer. Heck, you don't even have to go inside to admire some truly fine art: the two statues in front - both works of Jan Szczepkowski - are certanly worthy of attention. Presented are two 'dads'; the Father of the National Theatre, Wojciech Boguslawski and the Creator of the National Opera, Stanislaw Moniuszko. When you do manage to get inside, you'll enjoy the finest board-trodding around. Check out opera and ballet performances everyday but Monday during the season (October until the end of June).

"Just got back from the 'Queen of Spades.' I'm absolutely speechless. Stunning performance in a great hall."

"I'm not a big theater goer, but my girlfriend dragged me here while we were visiting. I have to admit, the place is worth checking out in its own right. The ballet? Eh, she liked it a lot..."
