National Gallery of Art

The Zacheta Gallery was founded back in 1900, and it's one of the biggest and most prestigious galleries of contemporary art in Poland. Famous artists from both Poland and abroad have exhibited in Zacheta's hallowed halls, from Stanislaw Wyspianski to Roy Liechtenstein. Though the interior was damaged, Zacheta was one of the few structures in the city to have emerged from the 2nd World War intact. Zacheta has a huge collection of art, ranging from paintings and sketches to contemporary sculptures. The gallery also organises seminars, meetings with authors and concerts and slide-shows.

National Gallery of Art

"For me - one of the best and most enjoyable collections of paintings in the World. You never tire of these paintings or lack wonder at the ingenuity, beauty and diversity of Polish art. If ever you wish to understand the psyche of a Pole, this typifies their history and why they are one of the great nations of the world. Also how far ahead of the Western world they were, in between the Vodka sessions!"

"I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the national gallery of Art in Warsaw and was really suprised to see the amount and the beauty of polish artits and their paintings .It was a joyful moment with surprising and admiration, though I have to confess I was a little bit disappointed with the description and information in the gallery , next to each paiting was only the name of the artist and the time but not the exact material ,size the colours or the tecnique used by them. I do believe the Polish goverment should invest a bit more in their beautiful national collection and promote a little bit more to the outside world . It is a unmissable heritage of local culture to its people and to the world. All with all my compliments and I wish to be back soon ."
